Referral Program Terms
Referral Program Terms
Version: 2026-09-06-pending-legal
Effective date: September 6, 2026
Last updated: September 6, 2026
This is a draft disclosure surface only. It is not legal advice, not a finished contract, and not approval to enable the referral program or payouts in Production. A Florida lawyer must review it before you rely on it, take live referral money, or run ads.
1. Nature of this draft
This is a draft disclosure surface only. It is not legal advice, not a finished contract, and not approval to enable the referral program or payouts in Production. A Florida lawyer must review it before you rely on it, take live referral money, or run ads.
These Referral Program Terms (“Referral Terms”) apply only if you join the Local Contractors public referral program. They sit beside the site Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If they conflict, the site Terms still govern the Service, and these Referral Terms govern referral rewards only.
2. Economics (foundational amounts)
Rewards are integer U.S. cents on the platform ledger. They are not cash in hand until a later Founder-approved payout provider exists.
- Referred client exclusive lead purchase: $1.00 (100 cents), once per qualifying lead.
- Referred client first paid-and-closed job: $5.00 (500 cents), once per referred client.
- Referred contractor paid subscription: 10% (1,000 bps) of actual collected recurring cents, floored.
- A client lifecycle never combines $1 and $5 into one $6 line. Maximum client lifecycle is $6 across two events.
- Posting a work request alone is $0. Lost exclusive unlocks are $0.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18, able to contract under Florida law, and not a test, demo, or Play-reviewer account. Referral-only accounts cannot open shop tools, Today, or books.
Office or Founder may suspend or disable an account for fraud, abuse, or investigation. History is kept.
4. Self-referral and uniqueness
You may not refer yourself. Circular contractor chains are blocked. Email and U.S. phone are unique across public, contractor, and client identities. A person is attributed once.
5. First-touch attribution
The first valid referral code stored in the lc_ref cookie (90 days) wins over a later form or link. Later ref= values do not hijack an existing first touch.
6. Fraud, holds, and investigation
We may flag high volume, high reversal rates, or code rotation as watches only — not accusations. We may hold, reverse, suspend, or refuse rewards while investigating. Suspend does not delete history.
7. Reversals
A refund or chargeback of the source payment reverses the linked reward once. $1 reverses when the exclusive lead unlock is refunded. $5 reverses when the job payment is refunded or charged back. 10% subscription commission reverses when that collected payment is refunded.
Partial refund of a source charge still reverses the full linked reward (the qualifying event is undone). Duplicate refund webhooks do not reverse twice. Unrelated rewards stay untouched.
If you already spent wallet credit, the reversal still posts. Available balance can show a deficit until later earnings cover it. We do not claw back an already-unlocked exclusive lead from the contractor who paid.
8. Payout timing and minimum
Rewards start pending, then become earned/available after the hold (default 14 days). Payable status requires both REFERRAL_PAYOUTS_ENABLED and Office payout_status on. Cash payout execution is disabled until a provider exists. Minimum cash request is $25.00 (2,500 cents) if payouts are ever enabled.
We never mark a reward PAID without external provider confirmation. Payouts stay off in this draft.
9. Tax
Ledger income is other income for bookkeeping. We do not issue tax forms from this draft. 1099, withholding, and money-transmitter questions are Founder decisions after a payout provider is chosen. This is not tax advice.
10. Modification rights
We may change these Referral Terms, amounts, holds, or eligibility. We will post a new version and version id. Continued use after the update is acceptance of the new version if the program is enabled. We may pause or end the program.
11. Privacy-safe tracking
Referrers see anonymous client labels (for example Client Referral #R-10482) and lifecycle steps only. We do not show contractor identity, job address, job type, bid or invoice amounts, or private messages on the referral tracker.
12. Cookie
The first-touch cookie name is lc_ref. It stores only a referral code, not a name or payment. It lasts 90 days and is first-write only.
